Laser hair removal can eliminate the production of hair through the use of laser energy. The effect of the laser is to cause energy absorption along the hair follicle while sparing the skin and surrounding tissue. As some of the hair follicles are in a “resting phase” it requires multiple treatments to achieve permanent hair reduction.  Six treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart are usually needed and can achieve 70-80% clearance, although occasionally more treatments may be necessary to reach this point of hair removal. The most common areas treated for women are underarms, arms, lip, chin, bikini and legs. For men – backs, shoulders, neckline, and chest are all desired areas to eliminate hair. BareHR is also safe and excellent for treating darker skin patients with facial or body hair.

BareHR energy travels harmlessly through the skin until it strikes the hair follicle, which contains a dense, melanin-rich hair and bulb. The darker-colored melanin absorbs the light and gently rises in temperature, destroying the hair. Because the heat is not sustained no damage occurs outside the follicle area. Hair follicles that are in their dormant phase and resting phase cannot absorb the light effectively to the root and cannot be treated. This is why several visits are required to catch the hairs at a time when they are most vulnerable, the growing phase.
